Large Drone Motors

Innotec manufactures both in runner and outrunner motors. Depending on the application, Innotec uses both for large drone motor applications. One of the big advantages to drone and flying applications is the amount of ambient cooling available during flight. This allows to stretch the limits of electrical loading and reduce the cooling requirements.

The size and power of drone motors can vary depending on the type and size of the drone, as well as the specific application. Typical drone motor sizes in terms of power and diameter have a wide range.

  1. Micro and Mini motors: These are the smallest motors used in drones, typically with a diameter of around 8mm and a power output going up to 10 watts. These are not Innotec’s focus.
  2. Small and medium motors: These motors are typically used in small to medium-sized drones and have a power output of up to 40 watts. While these might have a tiny payload, typically the drones will not be carrying much.
  3. Medium to large motors: These motors used in drones, typically with a diameter of around 35mm and a power output of around 60 watts or more. They are commonly used in heavy-duty and industrial drones, as well as in custom-built drones.
  4. Large Drone Motors – This is what we classify as carrying payload. These can be used for carrying packages, emergency purposes (water) and supplies. The size will really depend on the specific purpose of the drone, the battery size and

Drone motor considerations

Just like all of Innotec’s brushless dc motor applications, when looking for large drone motors there are several key factors to consider:

quadcopter large drone motors
  • Power: The motor should be able to provide the necessary power to lift and maneuver the drone.
  • Voltage: What size battery is being used? How high of voltage is expected? How long of duration of flights?
  • Efficiency: The motor should be as efficient as possible to maximize flight time and minimize battery usage.
  • Size and weight: The motor should be compact and lightweight to minimize the overall weight of the drone.
  • Durability: The motor should be able to withstand the rigors of flight and be able to withstand wear and tear.
  • Compatibility: The motor should be compatible with the other components of the drone, such as the controller and battery.
  • Safety: The motor should be safety compliant with regulations and standard.
