A Gear Motor is the fusion of an electric motor and a gear box designed in such a way that they both come together as a single unit. The output you get is from the shaft of the gearbox which is generally used to provide optimal torque & speed and sometimes just to align the motor’s output to the next component in a complex arrangement. Usually for traction and propulsion applications these Gear motors come into picture when a Brushless DC motor is integrated with a Gear system, it becomes a ready to use solution for most of the Electric Vehicle applications in the industry. Whether it is a commercial, passenger, cargo or special utility vehicle, the manufacturers usually use a single, dual or multi speed reduction gearbox, the BLDC Gear Motor comes as a simple solution saving space and reducing weight while increasing reliability and efficiency of the system.

  • Spur Gear Motors: Spur gear motors are simple and cost-effective. While they may be less compact compared to planetary gears, they find applications in electric vehicles where simplicity and reliability are prioritized, such as in smaller EVs or low-speed applications.
