5 kW DC Generator

Innotec Power has incorporated state-of-the-art technologies and all new tooling to design the 5 kW DC generators as to meet the increased performance demand. Model DCGen-5 is the permanent magnetized 5KW DC generator. Within house design and control team, Innotec is able to provide the units with a wide range of voltage options. Charging voltages can vary from 24V, 48V, 72V or could be customized as per the requirement. This is the foremost economical means by using diesel fully automatic charging options to charge batteries and power loads.

5 kW DC Generator Applications

  •  For small power supply such as portable generators, they are compact and light weight. Most frequently used in military applications to meet the demand at remote locations or for off-grid applications.
  • Used in the hybrid system which runs alongside a battery bank, detecting when the power load is low to seamlessly switch from the bttery storage to the generator or to simulataneously run the load and charge the battery. The two systems work together to ensure that when a higher demand is detected, the load is transferred back to the main generator, allowing the battery bank to recharge.
  • In telecommunication sector as the base transceiver station (BTS) requires continuous power without interruption to serve customer’s mobile telephony needs.
  • Lighting towers more frequently use LED lights which can be optimized to work with DC voltage inputs.

Possible Engines for 5 kW DC Generators

  • Kubota OC60 air/oil cooled, single cylinder diesel engine with a capacity of 6.1 HP at 3600 RPM. Compact in size with bore & stroke of 72mm & 68mm respectively. The dry weight of the engine is 38 Kg (117 lbs.), with the size of 360.6 X 404 X 564 mm.
  • Perkins 402D liquid cooled, 2 cylinder diesel engine with a capacity of 6.8 HP at 1800 RPM. With bore & stroke of 67mm & 72mm respectively. The dry weight of the engine is 73 Kg (161 lbs.), with the size of 407 X 371 X 523 mm.
  • Honda IGX340 air cooled single cylinder 4-stroke OHV gasoline engine with a capacity of 10.7 HP at 3600 RPM. With bore & stroke of 88mm & 64mm respectively. The dry weight of the engine is 37 Kg (82 lbs.), with the size of 407 X 485 X 449 mm.

VARIABLE SPEED OR ELECTRONICALLY GOVERNED VOLTAGE

  • 5 kW DC Generators used in battery-charging systems must be regulated so as to not overcharge the batteries they are connected to.
  • According to its rated load, battery current or total full load the alternator delivers a charging DC voltage at the terminals and subsequently the voltage changes depending upon load.
  • For a variable speed application, the control panel gives the signal to the speed Governor so as to increase or decrease the speed depending on the load variation to get optimum fuel consumption and maintaining the correct charging voltage.

COOLING OPTIONS

  • Air cooling is the standard method of alternator cooling used to dissipate heat from the system. As it can solely depends on the flowing air, another option is to combine fan blades mounted on the rotor and cooled air is injected inside the unit.
  • Liquid cooling is another option in which a liquid cooling core is placed inside the unit. The coolant that is used by the installed internal – combustion engine for its own cooling can be used for the alternator cooling as well.
